Schneider, Pastor

Greetings, I am the Rev. Philip C. Schneider (Pastor
Phil), and I am honored to be Senior Pastor at your
beloved St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
Peace and Grace I bring to you
from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
This is a new day in history.
That is true of this country as well as our denomination.
Actually our country's history is our denomination's history.
There is not a liberal UNITED Church of Christ. There is
not a conservative UNITED Church of Christ. There is
only THE UNITED Church of Christ, "steeped deep in justice,
deep in commitment and even deeper in history". St.
Paul's United Church of Christ has had a long history within
the City of Wausau and with the United Church of Christ.
Because of your bold history and because of the amazing
opportunities for the future, I would like to introduce myself
to you.
Currently, we
live in a time of paradox, contradiction, opportunity,
and above all, change. To the fearful, change is
threatening because they worry that things may get
worse. To the hopeful, change is encouraging
because they feel things may get better. To those
who have confidence in themselves, change is a stimulus
because they believe one person can make a difference
and influence what goes on around them.
I pray every day
that I can help to make a difference. I pray that
God uses me in a positive manner and that some small or
perhaps even big way, I can influence people to make the
best choices for their lives. I pray to be a
disciple of Jesus Christ!
Change is
something exciting. This is a time of unequaled
possibilities. God is still speaking!
Please be in
ministry with me, as we explore our faith together!
The Rev. Vern
Dolde, Pastor Emeritus
I started my
official ministry in June of 1952 serving as Licensed Pastor
at St. Stephens in Merrill. I was ordained in June 1954
and served three churches. St. Paul's UCC, Old Monroe, Mo.;
Peace UCC in Schofield, Wisconsin, and First UCC in Reeseville, Wisconsin. I retired
December 1, 1993 and on August 1st, 1994 I started
serving as a Visitation Minister (40 hours a month) at
St. Paul's UCC in Wausau. I visit the elderly who
still are in their own homes, in assisted living and
nursing homes. I enjoy this work and plan
to continue as long as they want me and God gives me the
health to do so. The secretaries, the custodian
and the music people are great to work with .

I
am a life member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
I was Baptized and Confirmed here. My work for the
church began just out of high school with my teaching in the
Junior Department and then leading into being Superintendent.
I was Youth Fellowship Director for many years. I held
Christian Education Classes for Senior High School students
and Adult Church members for many years
I have also assisted
Rev. Dolde with his Visitations of our home bound shut-ins;
which has became my main role presently. Our church
members are very important and they are remembered even though
they are not as active within the Church. I am also on
back up call for Hospital Visitations. In addition, I
have led Church Worship Services and given sermons.

I am also the Prayer
Team Leader. Prayer is an important part of our
Christian Faith. Prayer requests are made to the Church
and we then hold a short prayer session each Sunday morning.
Prayers are then presented in church to our loving God.
There is power in our prayers!
In addition, I have
attended various classes covering teaching and "Called to
Care". I will also be attending the Lay Academy for the
United Church of Christ this fall, continuing to obtain my
License.
The United Church of Christ theme, "God is
Still Speaking!" is a strong statement here. We are on a
Mission!

I
have been a native of the Wausau area for most of my
life. However, I was born in St. Paul Minnesota
and spent most of my childhood in Clintonville, Wisconsin.
My focus for the past forty years, aside from being a
mother and grandma, has been in the field of accounting,
finance and office management with additional education
in computer programming and web-site maintenance.
I enjoy working with people and think St. Paul's is a
wonderful place to work.

In
my spare time, I enjoy swimming, fishing, and bike
